Juventus continue to make their way back up the Serie A table following a 2-3 away victory over Carpi on Sunday. Although the hosts took the lead early in the match, Mario Mandžukić’s two goals in the first half quickly erased that. Heading into the Christmas Break, Inter still sits atop the Serie A table, but are only one point ahead of Fiorentina and Napoli, and three points ahead of the defending champions, Juventus.

Also on Sunday, it was a goal fest at the Santiago Bernabeu as Real Madrid erased an early 1-2 deficit to crush Rayo Vallecano 10-2. Both Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema peppered the opposition’s net with a joint seven goals. The Welshman finished with four goals and one assist while his French teammate put the ball in the back of the net three times. La Liga takes a short holiday break, returning to action on Wednesday, December 30.

Then on Monday evening in the Barclays Premier League, it was a battle between second and third as Arsenal welcomed Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal went into the half-time break with a 2-0 lead and held on to defeat their rivals 2-1. Mesut Özil extended his lead among the Top Assists leaderboard, helping out on both goals for his side. Next for both clubs on Boxing Day, Arsenal visits Southampton while City host Sunderland.
