Madden NFL 19 Player Ratings: Top 5 Offensive Linemen

Posted July 13th at 11:00am.

Another year, another Madden season, another top five group of O-linemen featuring a flood of Dallas Cowboys. If you’re within close proximity to a Cowboys fan, give them your smartphone, show them this article, and watch as their heart grows three sizes.

Then, you know, get ready to run. Because you just gave a stranger your phone and I’m not paying for a new one. That was your fault for listening to me.

Anyway, there is a drastic difference in Madden when you’re playing with a quality O-line versus a bad one. A good O-line allows routes to fully develop and gives users more time, which grants them a wider variety of play call options. With a lesser O-line, a playbook becomes a bit more limited, relying on more quick plays to move the chains.

Without further delay, here are the top five offensive linemen in Madden NFL 19.

1. David Bakhtiari, Green Bay Packers
97 OVR

When you have a QB like Aaron Rodgers, you’re going to need some quality protection. It doesn’t get much better than Bakhtiari. Bakhtiari is the finest pass blocker in Madden 19, with a 93 Pass Block Power and 97 Pass Block Finesse scores. As good as he is in pass block, he’s a liability with the run. He only tallies a 78 Run Block Power and an 81 Run Block Finesse.

2. (Two-way Tie)

Travis Frederick, Dallas Cowboys
96 OVR

And so begins the Cowboys invasion. It’s no secret that the Dallas O-line is talented, and Frederick is a big reason. He’s more balanced in protection than Bakhtiari with a 94 Run Block and 91 Pass Block. He also sports the highest Impact Block rating of the top five with a 95.

Zack Martin, Dallas Cowboys
96 OVR

The foundation of the Cowboys’ front is Martin. The monster center and world’s scariest man, Martin boasts a 94 in Run Block, Pass Block, Run Block Finesse, Pass Block Power, Pass Block Finesse, and Lead Blocking. Martin is the most versatile, well-balanced lineman in the game.

4. (Three-way Tie)

David DeCastro, Pittsburgh Steelers
95 OVR

The Steelers’ frontman scores a 93 in Pass Block with a 95 Run Block; that’s the best among the players on this list. DeCastro’s 95 in Run Block Power is also a best within this elite group. Rounding out his blocking scores, DeCastro carries a 90 Run Block Finesse, 94 Pass Block Power, and a 93 Pass Block Finesse.

Rodney Hudson, Oakland Raiders
95 OVR

The Raiders O-line is quietly pretty solid in the pass protection. Hudson is the driving force behind their front line. With okay numbers in run blocking in the low 80s, but great scores when protecting the pass. Hudson’s Pass Block Power of 95 and Pass Block Finesse at 93 ensures Derek Carr will stay upright.

Tyron Smith, Dallas Cowboys
95 OVR

So, technically, this list is a top six. But with this much talent, it didn’t feel right to leave Smith out due to alphabetical order. Smith tops this list with mobility and power, scoring a 74 Speed and 96 Strength. Slightly better in pass protection, Smith is a dominant force, rounding out an already stellar Dallas O-line.

Honorable Mentions

So yes, Dallas’ O-line is good with three players with elite status. But what about the defending champs? The Philadelphia Eagles come in as the all-around best O-line in Madden 19. Four Eagles come in at the top 13, all with at least a 91 OVR.
