Madden NFL All-25: RB Marshall Faulk

Posted July 30th at 12:00am.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Madden NFL, we’ve compiled the best players in Madden history with help from our EA SPORTS GameChangers.Today's reveal is Hall of Fame running back Marshall Faulk.

The centerpiece of the “Greatest Show on Turf” in St. Louis, Marshall Faulk was the cover athlete for Madden NFL 03 and he’s the perfect running back for the All-25 Team.  Faulk was able to contribute in multiple ways on offense for the Rams, redefining what it means to be a versatile tailback. Faulk is one of only two players in NFL history gain 1,000 yards rushing AND receiving in a single season.

In 2003, the St. Louis Rams burst onto the Madden scene thanks to the versatility and dominance of Faulk. Faulk’s 99 overall rating made the St. Louis Rams the popular pick for competitive play in Madden NFL 03.

“Faulk could not be contained in Madden because if you shut him down in the running game, he would kill you in the passing game. Faulk was a triple threat that could run, catch, and block.” - Coach Ruckus

Faulk’s speed allowed him to turn any outside run into a huge gain, so defenses were forced to spread their line to try and keep him from getting to the edge. Still, his true value was as a threat in the passing game.

“Marshall Faulk, Best dual-threat RB in Madden history, a truly legit receiver as well as precision back with a great balance of power, agility and breakaway speed that left defenders in the dust." - Smitty

Known for both his speed and awareness, Faulk was the quintessential duel-threat that every Madden NFL player dreams of having on their roster. Faulk’s pass-catching skills made him deadly on routes to the flat and on screens out of the backfield.

“Marshall Faulk in Madden 03 wasn't only the best running back in the game; he was arguably the best receiver in the game as well.” – Shaun Mason
