Players to Watch on Xbox One - Sydney Regional Final - FIFA 17 Ultimate Team Championship Series

Posted February 6th at 10:00am.

Hot on the heels of the FIFA Ultimate Team Championship Series Regional Final in Paris, the spotlight heads to the southern hemisphere. Sydney, Australia is the backdrop for the Rest of the World top competitors, and they’ll be putting their skills to the test as the 2017 Regional Finals continue.

Sixteen competitors each will battle within PlayStation 4 and Xbox One divisions for the chance to win $20,000 USD and a coveted ticket to the Ultimate Team Championships in Berlin. The divisions include a wide range of experience levels, from seasoned veterans to competitors making debuts, which should turn this into the most unpredictable Regional Final yet. But even within this diverse field, you should keep your eyes on the following five competitors, who we believe can make some noise in the Xbox One division.

Joseph “OhNoAGoat” Nassar

OhNoAGoat came out of nowhere and impressed everyone back in November, when he took the top spot in qualification with a remarkable 145 wins. Why was it such a surprise? Because he’s now making his live competitive debut in his hometown of Sydney at the Regional Finals. OhNoAGoat may not have developed a name in the FIFA competitive scene yet, but if his qualification campaign is any indication, he has everything he needs to make a run, including the support of his hometown crowd.

Amir "Khwanitto_12345" Bechache

Khwanitto_12345 Bechache is one of the few players competing in Sydney with previous live competitive experience. The M'sila, Algerian-born player cut his competitive gaming teeth at the 2016 Etisalat Super Cup. With so many good players, his understanding of the pressure and pace of playing live could give Khwanitto_12345 a crucial leg up in getting to the next level. We’ll see if it’s enough to make him a real contender for the Sydney Regional Final title.

Campbell “honurbly airbrn” knowles

honurbly airbrn introduced himself to the FIFA competitive scene with a fourth-place finish in his very first competition, the 2016 Auckland Adversity Gaming LAN. Since then, he’s scored wins at the AUSFIFA.com Morbidstix Weekend Open #3 and the AUSFIFA.com FUT Cup #2 and earned his ticket to the Regional Final by placing fourth in the qualifiers. His live event experience and reliably strong play has put honurbly airbrn on a lot of people's radars as a favourite.

John “Johnny Atilla” Orban

Johnny Atilla started playing FIFA Ultimate Team way back in FIFA 12 – with a memorable 11-0 loss. However, this embarrassing result drove Johnny Atilla to train harder, play more, and continue to hone his FIFA craft. He then played a notable campaign in the 2017 qualifier, earning the third spot in the region, along with lots of fans. Can he keep driving forward, using that early failure to give him an emotional edge, and make it to the Ultimate Team Championship in Berlin?

Khalid “xX ThE RoYaL Xx” Aloufi

xX ThE RoYaL Xx placed 16th at the 2016 FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) in New York, and picked up his ticket to the Rest of the World Regional Final with 116 wins in the qualifiers. But this is a bigger stage than the FIWC, with higher stakes and tougher competition. It’s going to be a harder road as xX ThE RoYaL Xx gets back behind the controller looking to improve on his qualification form and become the king of the tournament.
