Sunday’s MLS action saw the Portland Timbers defeat the struggling Seattle Sounders 3-1. Diego Valeri scored twice, while teammate Jermaine Taylor earned an assist in the win.

Meanwhile in Montreal, New York City FC left with a 1-3 away victory over the Impact. Frank Lampard scored a goal in the 85^th minute.
