EA SPORTS Tip of the Week

05.21.08

I would like to share some of my secret tips on basically helping out some of the people who are curious about trying to win it all.  As you may see, I’m just a moderator, but I do enjoy playing the game NBA LIVE 08 on my free time.  I’m about to talk about how to execute better offensively with the Hot Spot, and how to stop your opponent from trying to get to their Hot Spot when they bring them up.

In a way, I chose this topic because it’s usually a good thing, but can be over exposed during game time.  To the ones that have seen my thread on “Thoughts Of The Game NBA LIVE 08” posted in the General Discussion Forum when I came back from Community Day last year from New York, you may know what I’m talking about.
For Xbox 360 users who are familiar with the Hot Spot on Practice Mode in the beginning of the game sequence before playing it, the  best thing to do is get a team that you’re familiar with by the play schemes, and from the player to player in the roster.  Practice Mode is most likely the best way for people to get used to their players and find where they’re good at.  Bring up the Hot Spot  while working with a player of your choosing on the team that you’re running with, and go through your whole roster if you like.  Now, chances are that they can miss shots when it comes to the spots that they’re dangerous with, but just don’t worry about it because it happens to the best of us.  Once you’re used to the team's Hot Spots, which may make you one of the best when you face your opponent,  the only thing you need to do now is start executing plays with your passing icons up to the player that’s going to, and hit them off when it comes for the old school screen and rolls.

Now the darkside of the Hot Spot.  Certain people have a tendency of bringing it up on the game too many times just to find the players.  To try or basically execute mostly on defense some may know the scheme on what I’m about to say as an instruction.

•    Set all of your defensive pressure "high," and if you think you may need to set your players to Double Team a certain player.  Please do that when you need to.

•     Defensive schemes.  Run a Trap defense before they cross the halfcourt line, and then bring your players back to set them back up into 2/3 Zone or an 3/2 Zone.  This basically will give the player a headache in the making on trying to get to their Hot Spot.
Two basic things that I’ve just gave out for the Hot Spot.  Stick around next time that I’ll be posting up an article for the NBA LIVE Boards on my thoughts on a future game.  Check out the NBA Draft Thread that I have up where I’m just updating giving out the news of all players from college coming out in the draft, and plus I’ll be working on the International Players that may be coming out too as well.  Feel free to hit me up on whatever post you see on the thread made by me, or that I’m just participating in just to join in the conversation.
