The Masters Begins

By EA SPORTS Apr 9, 2013

The Masters has been called “A Tradition Unlike Any Other,” and with good reason. From the green jacket awarded to the winner, to manual scoreboards, to the Champion’s Dinner, the pageantry and ceremony at Augusta National make The Masters one of the year’s most anticipated sporting events.

And before the Honorary Starters tee it up on Thursday morning, some of the game’s best will hit Augusta’s famed Par 3 Course for a Wednesday afternoon of fun and family.

The annual Par 3 Contest is a much more relaxed setting than the 71-hole gauntlet at Augusta. The field consists of not only tournament participants, but past champions and honorary invitees, but they’re not the only ones to pick up a club; often times, the pros will hand over their clubs to their caddies or kids.

The contest began in 1960 and since then, spectators have witnessed a hole-in-one 75 times. For you superstitious types, no Par 3 Contest winner has ever gone on to win the Masters that year. Will 2013 be any different?

Check out some exclusive Par 3 screenshots from Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14, which is NOW AVAILABLE on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
