Congratulations to the entire SSX team for picking up Best Individual Sports Game at the 2012 Video Game Awards. Everyone here at EA SPORTS is incredibly proud of SSX’s achievements this year, and we’d like to thank our great community of fans who have been along for the ride.
For the past few months the EA SPORTS SSX team has been working on something special, an update to the game that adds two complete new game modes along with some much requested fixes. Using feedback from fans like you the development team focused in on making SSX even better.
With your feedback in mind, the SSX dev team worked hard on the upcoming Mt. Eddie & Classic Characters DLC to bring back the classic SSX experience. They wanted the DLC to have the same feel as classic SSX titles – hence, Mt. Eddie was born; an SSX TRICKY inspired mountain with billboards and fireworks and more.
Elise, Kaori and Zoe. These are not just the names of some of the most beloved women in SSX history, but some of the most popular characters we’ve had in the game full stop. These ladies have proven to be able to carve up the mountain as good as any of the men and they’ve shredded their way into our hearts.
After a week of teasing the community by slowly releasing puzzle pieces of a screenshot jam packed full of classic SSX elements, we revealed on Friday that we would be bringing some of that classic, retro fun from previous SSX titles to the newest SSX release with our upcoming DLC.
SSX fans have shown their love for the game’s rich history. We love that history as well, and that’s why we’re excited to be bringing some classic elements to the newest SSX release in our upcoming DLC release. We’ll be letting you know more on Monday, but for now we’re off to launch some fireworks in celebration.
As you know, those who pre-ordered SSX through various retailers have been able to hit the slopes with the beloved SSX character Edward “Eddie” Wachowski as a reward for reserving their copy of the game early. In addition, some people were also lucky enough to score an unlock code to ride with the star of The Art of FLIGHT film, Travis Rice, in the game.
Even though the reviews have been outstanding and the fan reaction overwhelmingly positive, the SSX team did not take a break to head up to Whistler and do some real world snowboarding. Rather than kicking back and relaxing they went right to work on making SSX even better, including addressing some issues with the game that the SSX community brought to our attention. We’ve released a patch via PSN & Xbox Live for SSX that brings RiderNet Radio (VOIP Support) to the PS3* and addresses some bugs that have been affecting a small percentage of users on both PS3 & X360.
EA SPORTS Game Changer Brian Parker rides on the Sony PlayStation 3 under the ID “Paakaa10”; friend him to compete on Ridernet and read on for his take on SSX’s “Deadly Descents” and confronting them without the aid of gear!
Wow – It’s not enough that over 21 Gaming Critics rated SSX “9/10” or better, but SSX is now on sale at Origin.com and GameStop this weekend for only $39.99; that’s over 30% in savings! The deal expires March 20, 2012. Pick up a copy and tell a friend - now is the perfect time to defy reality and own the massive world of SSX.
