Top 10 Moments of 2012 – EA SPORTS NHL

With the New Year fast approaching, we thought we’d take one last look at the best moments of EA SPORTS NHL in 2012. From the launch of the 1st ever EA SPORTS NHL cover vote to the release of NHL®13. Here are the Top 10 EA SPORTS NHL Moments of 2012 –

10. The Oilers’ Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Devan Dubnyk stop by the EA Canada Studio (where EA SPORTS NHL is made) to take part in a special Hockey Ultimate Team challenge. This was one of the events.

9. NHL 13 community members and FIRST Look contest winners were invited to the EA Canada Studio for an exclusive early look at NHL 13.

8. EA SPORTS brought head-scanning equipment to the 2012 NHLPA Rookie Showcase to capture in-game player likenesses. Here is Nail Yakupov being scanned.

7. For the first time ever, EA SPORTS NHL attended Gamescom (think E3, but in Germany) and skated its way onto stage. EA SPORTS NHL GM Dean Richards dropped the gloves and was ready to take on all challengers.

6. NHL 13 made a huge splash at E3 taking home four ‘Best of’ nominations and two wins!

5. EA SPORTS NHL launched its first ever cover vote in 2012, allowing fans to select the cover athlete for NHL 13. One of the best things about the cover vote was all the amazing fan-submitted covers!

4. E3 (held in Los Angeles) is always a crazy, exhausting, special time of year. This year was even crazier because the Los Angeles Kings were in the Stanley Cup Finals at the same time. The atmosphere was electric!

3. The launch of NHL 13 was something special with launch events in the seven NHL cities across Canada. Toronto was home to the biggest event where a ball hockey tournament coached by Leafs’ Phil Kessel and James Van Riemsdyk was held.

2. Viva Las Vegas! Home to the 2012 NHL Awards and the site where we unveiled the 1st ever fan-voted cover athlete Claude Giroux and the cover of NHL 13.

1. The ‘Our Game’ Launch TV Spot for NHL 13 featured Claude Giroux and Kris Letang, two of the best players in the game right now. When you’re working with two of the best hockey players in the world, it’s a funny day at the office.
