In NCAA Football 14, championships are praised but dynasties are remembered. And you can’t build a dynasty without working the recruiting trail. Here are some tips from EA SPORTS GameChanger MadScientist06 on how to reload your program year after year.

FILL YOUR NEEDS

Every team wants to stay one step ahead of their challenges. By utilizing your Team Overview in the Recruiting Menu, you’ll be able to see your team’s strengths and weaknesses at a glance. While it’s important to focus on positions with soon-to-be-departed seniors, don’t forget to anticipate your junior studs moving onto the NFL after the season. You don’t want to be caught empty-handed if your award-winning running back decides to take his talents to the next level. You may need to stack a position a year in advance if you have a logjam on the depth chart. Anticipate your vulnerabilities before they become weaknesses and you’ll avoid rebuilding years.

NOTE YOUR STYLE AND STRENGTHS

Systems work when coaches are mindful of the right personnel for those systems. If you’re trying to run a spread offense, there’s not much sense in stocking up on bigger, power backs. Looking to run the blitz-happy 3-3-5 defense? You’ll find the best fit with athletes that can fly around the field, so make sure to recruit to the strength of your system.

Are you spending time in a talent-rich state like California, Ohio, Texas, or Florida even if your program isn’t located in those areas?  Think about starting local. Identify the best recruits in your home state and try to “close the fence” on anyone that plays just down the road before eyeing talent several time zones away. This will free up points for you to close on the guys you really want.
