EA Wins 4 "Best of E3" Game Critic Awards

We're proud to announce that Electronic Arts picked up four "Best of E3" Game Critic Awards when the winners were announced this week--more than any other videogame publisher.

The awards were as follows:

  • Need For Speed Hot Pursuit won Best Racing Game.  The original NFS: Hot Pursuit (1998) has long been a fan favorite in the franchise, so it's thrilling for us to bring it back under the direction of Criterion Games, already well known for their brilliance in the racing genre with the Burnout series.
  • NBA JAM captured Best Sports Game. Yes, it's the return of another classic, this time by EA Canada. And, okay, we swept the nominations in this category this year, but even we would call this an upset victory for the little (big-headed) arcade game that could.
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic won Best RPG. BioWare does it again with another stunning trailer that shows off the depth of the company's always impressive storytelling talent. Critics also got hands-on time with this highly anticipated online Star wars game, and walked away convinced that BioWare is going to deliver the goods with this monster title.
  • Rock Band 3– won Best Social/Casual Game.  The latest version of the megapopular music game from the teams at MTV/Harmonix and EA Partners is getting everyone excited all over again, thanks to cool innovations like a real guitar to play and the addition (finally!) of keyboards.  We're already practicing our best "Bohemian Rhapsody" a cappelas.

Other EA titles that were nominated for Game Critics Awards included Bulletstorm, Crysis 2, Dead Space 2, Madden NFL 11, NHL 11, NCAA Football 11, EA SPORTS MMA, and Medal of Honor. This was a highly competitive year with tons of great titles, so it was an honor just to be nominated!  You can see the complete list of winners at the official site.
