Build Your Legacy with NBA LIVE 14 Rising Star Mode
By EA SPORTS Nov 18, 2013
There may be five positions on the basketball floor, but there are dozens of different ways to play each of them. Whether it’s a score-first point guard dictating the flow of the offense or an athletic big with range stretching the defense, each type of player will attack differently.
NBA LIVE 14 allows players to choose which path they'd like to take in Rising Star mode. Looking to get teammates involved? Specialize as a Passing Point Guard in the mold of Rajon Rondo. Trying to run the court and catch alley oops? Take the court as an Athletic Center a la the Los Angeles Clippers DeAndre Jordan. In NBA LIVE 14 Rising Star mode, players can write their own history as an NBA star.
Each player type includes a number of Key Skills, which are categories of stats that will be discounted for certain players. For example, a Center's blocking skill will cost less in comparison to a point guard's, and it will cost more to be a three-point shooting power forward than a shooting guard that can stroke it from deep.
Here’s a look at the different player types you can choose from in NBA LIVE 14 Rising Star Mode.
POSITION: Point Guard
PLAYER TYPES: Defensive, Passing, Scoring, Shooter
Point guards run the gamut from a Scoring Point Guard like NBA LIVE 14 cover athlete Kyrie Irving (above), to pass-first points like the Boston Celtics' Rajon Rondo. Key skills for the different types of court generals include Agility, Layup Ability, Max Speed, and Outside Shooting.
POSITION: Shooting Guard
PLAYER TYPES: All Around, Combo, Defensive, Scoring
With some of the NBA's top scorers (Dwyane Wade, James Harden, and Kobe Bryant) at All-Around Shooting Guard, the position does not lack for scoring threats. But there are other ways to excel at the 2, including on the defensive end. Key skills for shooting guards include Agility, Dribbling, Dunking, Inside/Outside/Midrange Shooting, and Steals.
POSITION: Small Forward
PLAYER TYPES: All Around, Athletic, Defensive, Scoring, Shooter
Perhaps the league's most versatile position, Small Forwards range from do-it-all superstars like LeBron James to unstoppable scorers like Kevin Durant to Athletic Small Forward Paul George and Rudy Gay. Key skills include Agility, Dunks, Vertical, Off-Ball Awareness, and Shooting
POSITION: Power Forward
PLAYER TYPES: All Around, Defensive, Finesse, Inside Outside, Power
The Power Forward position has evolved over the years, allowing "Small Ball 4's" like Harrison Barnes to emerge. The position ranges from defensive bangers like Serga Ibaka, to a Finesse Power Forward like Tim Duncan. Key skills include Inside/Outside/Midrange Shooting, Rebounding, Strength, and Post Moves.
PLAYER TYPES: Athletic, Defensive, Power, Rebounding, Scoring
The prototype center has transformed from unstoppable scorer on the low block to dominant defenders such as Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol and Anderson Varejao. If you're looking to get up and down the court, then you may want to create an Athletic Center like Lob City Big Man DeAndre Jordan. Key skills in the middle include Defensive/Offensive Rebounding, Post Moves, Strength and Vertical.
With more than 20 player types available, there is no shortage of options in NBA LIVE 14 Rising Star. Create a player in your vision, then go out and dominate!
