Madden Predicts Super Bowl XLVII

The official Madden NFL 13 Super Bowl Prediction has the Baltimore Ravens winning Super Bowl XLVII, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 27 – 24. With the victory, the Ravens captured their second Lombardi Trophy and allowed linebacker Ray Lewis to end his illustrious NFL career as a two-time Super Bowl champion.

With two top-10 defenses in the mix, many expected a physical battle. And that's exactly how the game progressed, as both the Ravens and 49ers mustered just a field goal each in the first quarter. The 49ers reached the end zone first in the second quarter, as Frank Gore scored on a 19-yard run in the second quarter to give the 49ers a 10-3 lead. But the Ravens answered, as Joe Flacco connected with Torrey Smith for an 18-yard touchdown. Baltimore also added a Ray Rice touchdown run to take a 17-10 lead into the half.

The Ravens continued to pour it on in the third quarter, Flacco hit Anquan Boldin on a 24-yard strike to stretch the Ravens’ lead to 24-10. But much like they did in the NFC Championship Game, the 49ers refused to give in. Frank Gore scored early in the fourth quarter, and the 49ers tied it up on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Colin Kaepernick to Vernon Davis just before the two-minute warning.

Flacco had an answer for the Niners, just as he had throughout the AFC Playoffs. He methodically drove the Ravens into field goal position, and a 40-yard field goal from rookie Justin Tucker gave the Ravens a 27-24 lead. The 49ers mounted one final drive, but an Ed Reed interception clinched the Ravens’ second Super Bowl title, ensuring that Ray Lewis would go out as a champion.

Living up to his preseason claims that he was indeed an elite quarterback, Joe Flacco took home MVP honors completing 19 of 27 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco capped off an incredible postseason run that saw him defeat Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick on the way to sending Ray Lewis out of the NFL with style.
