As many of you know, we recently announced that David Beckham would be joining our EA SPORTS family as a brand ambassador for EA SPORTS Active. We were delighted that someone as highly regarded and inspiring as David would be signing on to help us bring EA SPORTS Active 2 to market this fall in Europe and Australia.
Last week, I had the chance to visit with David as he spent the day with us in Los Angeles filming a TV commercial that you’ll be seeing later this fall. David came straight from a strenuous training session with the LA Galaxy and proceeded to work out for the cameras for the next three hours. Given he is still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon injury, suffered only five months ago playing for AC Milan, his commitment to the afternoon’s work was stunning.
I have always admired David’s dedication and patriotism, and while my undying allegiance is obviously to Liverpool, it was truly an honor to spend time with such a consummate professional (even if he did play so much of his career with Manchester United!). It was fascinating to be able to hear his thoughts on health and fitness, the power of a product like EA SPORTS Active to change lives, the importance of new technology like heart rate monitors in staying fit and the overall priority he places on living an active lifestyle. Later this fall, we’ll share a video of that conversation as we approach the November launch of EA SPORTS Active 2.
David told me that it was an “honor to join the EA SPORTS family” and the feeling couldn’t be more mutual. With EA SPORTS Active 2, we are changing so many people’s lives for the better, and having someone of David’s stature and global reach help us spread the word this fall, we hope to continue the positive impact we are having in the world of health and wellness.
